“I began farming here in 1995, operating a conventional dairy herd (180-200 cows) with an emphasis on low-inputs and long grazing seasons. In 2016 we began transitioning to Organic Dairy. The introduction of the Agroforestry scheme dovetailed with my declining enthusiasm for Dairy Farming. In 2023 we decided to cease milk production, let go of two under-performing leased out-farms and plant 25ha of our milking platform. 8ha in a native woodland and 17ha of Agroforestry. Planting took place in Spring of 2026.” Brian Costello.
